Dave Matthews Band

So, if you know me, you know that one of my favorite bands is the Dave Matthews Band. I still remember the first time I heard Dave Matthews - it was my sophomore year of high school. I have been a fan ever since.

Tyson loves Dave Matthews as well, it just took him longer to get there. He did not like him in high school, mostly because I don't think he gave Dave a chance. He even had a chance to go to a concert with his sister and her friends, but declined(yeah, I was shocked). It was actually in college that he started to catch on to Dave, thanks to Tyson's freshmen friends!

When we went out on our first date (it was a blind date), Dave Matthews Band was one of the things that connected us. In fact, it was one of the large reasons Tyson decided to call me and ask me out on another date. So, thank you Dave Matthews Band for helping me and my husband get married (or at least head in that direction)!

It just seemed fitting to go to a concert. We were going to go last year, but had a family reunion on the day they were in town. So, on July 23rd, we finally went to see Dave Matthews Band in concert at Nationals Stadium!!! We were stoked!

The concert was awesome! Dave sounds the same, if not, better, live. I don't really have a bucket list, so to speak, but if I did, I just checked off one the things on the list. I am so glad that we went. The music was great, the musicians were great, the company was great! The only thing that was not great was the weather (the concert was outside). It was so dang humid!!!! As Dave put it, "I feel like I am standing on a dog's tongue." It's true. That is what it felt like. The humidity was already super high that day, but when you add in thousands of people, it just intensifies everything.

It did not really cool down until much later in the concert, but it was still worth battling the sweat dripping down my back. :) If that is not a true fan, I don't know what is!

But, man, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! You could just tell that all the guys on stage really love what they do. It was amazing!

After the concert we decided to walk to a metro stop further away so we wouldn't have to transfer to a different metro. It was already midnight and we were both exhausted. We are getting old and are definitely parents of little kids - we don't know how to stay up past 11 pm. So, we walked for a while and caught the metro. It was a good decision because we were able to get right on instead of waiting through the masses of people at the other metro stop (I just had flashbacks on July 4, 2009.......the line to get on the metro was insane and it was so hot!). We got to my dad's house (Thanks for watching the kids!) put the kids in the car and got home at about 1:45 am. Wow, we were tired the next day, but boy, was it worth every sticky, sweaty, tired moment!

Happy Birthday, Tyson!!!!

Proof I was there :)
